Samsun has become Turkey's leading region for buffalo population, with over 20,000 buffalos among its 345,548 cattle. The region also boasts 250,502 small ruminants, mainly sheep and goats, and a significant poultry population of 3,675,812, including various types of birds. Additionally, Samsun produces nearly a thousand tons of honey annually from 97,448 beehives. The buffaloes are particularly valued for their meat and milk, which are used in various food products.
