Samsun is the leading region in Turkey for water buffalo, accounting for 12.3% of the country's total, according to TÜİK data. The region also has a significant cattle stock, ranking 12th in the country, and is also important for small ruminant livestock. Samsun is home to a total of 325,539 bovine animals, including 20,9 buffalos, 225,000 sheep, 24,000 goats, and over 3.67 million poultry animals. Additionally, the region produces approximately one thousand tons of honey annually, with 97,448 hives.
