Santa Catarina, Brazil's largest pork and second largest chicken meat producer, has experienced a 3.9% increase in meat exports and a 10.3% rise in revenue generation from January to August of 2021, surpassing US$ 2 billion. The state's poultry and swine products account for 24% of Brazil's total meat exports, with Japan, China, and Saudi Arabia being the primary markets. Santa Catarina has gained increased export popularity in Chile, Argentina, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates, diversifying its dependence on the Chinese market. The state's meat production quality and freedom from foot-and-mouth disease and classical swine fever are notable factors that enhance its export value.
