Santa Catarina saw a record high in pig production last year, with 17.86 million pigs sent to slaughter, marking a 2.1% increase from 2022. However, a decrease in corn supply due to climate issues is expected to raise meat production costs. Despite a 6.7% reduction in the state's corn production compared to the 2022/2023 harvest, the market outlook remains positive with corn prices expected to rise. The state also experienced a 9.3% increase in pork exports, generating revenues of US$1.57 billion, a 9.7% growth from 2022.
