Greece and Romania have been dealing with outbreaks of peste des petits ruminants in small cattle for four consecutive months, with over 200 cases reported. The disease, also known as goat plague, poses a risk to other south European Union countries, according to Ilya Chvala, Deputy Director for Research at the Federal Center for Animal Health Protection. The situation has worsened due to severe flooding in Europe, particularly from storm "Boris." Despite these challenges, Russia has not reported any cases of the disease and maintains a disease-free status.
