Scottish salmon export sales have experienced a significant 41% increase in the first half of 2024, generating £431 million in revenue, as the market expands in Asia and America. Despite a slight dip in sales to EU countries, the sector is on track to set a record for international sales, with France remaining the largest international market. The industry employs 2,500 people directly and supports an additional 10,000 jobs, contributing significantly to the UK's economy and creating thousands of jobs in Scotland. The UK Government is working to further expand global markets for Scottish salmon, recognizing its quality and sustainability.
