Seed potato exports in Europe are picking up quickly

As soon as the seed potato grower has sorted a batch, the trading companies collect it immediately. This also applies to chip potato varieties that are normally purchased in March and April. It indicates that buyers would like to receive their seed potatoes early this season. The low availability is to blame for this. We see this especially in exports to European destinations. Exports are currently higher than in previous years, while considerably less seed potatoes are available for export. In order to limit the shortage of seed potatoes as much as possible, much more seed potatoes are cut than normal. Many larger potatoes are also made suitable for planting using cutting machines.
