Sinan County announced that a cram sesame mechanization cultivation result evaluation meeting was held in Bigeum-myeon on the 16th, with around 100 local farmers and research institutions in attendance. This evaluation meeting introduced new varieties suitable for mechanization and demonstrated the entire process of crop cultivation, from sowing to harvesting, using a direct seeding machine and a combine harvester on-site to show the feasibility of mechanized sesame cultivation. Particularly, addressing the agricultural reality of difficulties due to the aging population and labor shortage in rural areas, the simultaneous operations of tilling, covering, and sowing using a direct seeding machine and replacing the most strenuous sesame harvesting work with a combine harvester can reduce labor by up to 97% compared to conventional farming methods.
