The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has allocated over S$23 million in funding for 12 research and development projects aimed at sustainable urban food production. This initiative is a part of Singapore's '30 by 30' goal, which targets to meet 30% of the country's nutritional needs locally by 2030. The projects will focus on key areas such as genetics, disease management, system optimization, and nutrition, with a significant emphasis on aquaculture and urban agriculture. The goal is to increase the productivity of local food producers, ensuring cost effectiveness, resource efficiency, sustainability, and climate resilience.
