Norwegian shellfish exports reached a record high in July, with a value of NOK 406 million (€38.8 million), a 9% increase from the previous month. The re-opening of high-end restaurants globally has driven demand, with crab and shrimp exports seeing an increase. The country has exported around 14,000 tonnes of crab and shrimp so far this year, with the value reaching NOK 1.9 billion (€180 million). South Korea and the US are the biggest markets for king crab and snow crab exports, respectively. The increase in export value is also due to increased shellfish quotas, good fishing, and improved logistics and transport.
