The Sicilian fishermen are set to receive a significant increase in the tuna fishing quota for the year 2024. The Maritime Compartments of Sicily will be allocated over 60% of the additional quota, amounting to a total of 136,252 tonnes. This quota includes a substantial increase for small-scale fishing to the feluccas in Sicily. The Meloni Government has acknowledged the requests of the fishermen and operators by signing the decree, highlighting Italy's leadership role in quality, territories, identity, and traditions. The fishing industry remains a priority for the Italian Government.
