The ice sheet on Odaechon in Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang County, Gangwon Province, was filled with fervent cheers. The "Pyeongchang Trout Festival," which has established itself as a leading winter festival in the Republic of Korea, successfully concluded its 32-day journey, marking a historic milestone of its 20th anniversary. Held from January 9 to February 9, this festival, despite the setback of its opening being postponed due to worsening weather conditions, attracted 250,000 people, reaffirming its status as a "winter tourism mecca." The beginning of the Shinhwa Pyeongchang Trout Festival, which started under a footbridge in a tent, was not glamorous. It was initiated in the summer of 2006 to revive the local economy of Jinbu-myeon, which had been devastated by the record-breaking typhoon "Ewinia."
