REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers' Union (SPKS) is calling on the government to ensure that the implementation of forest area regulation does not target palm oil farmers, and that the resolution of farmers' land issues be carried out through the agrarian reform mechanism. SPKS Chairman Sabarudin said that anxiety is currently sweeping thousands of smallholder palm oil farmers in various regions following the issuance of Government Regulation (PP) Number 45 of 2025, which serves as the basis for the Forest Area Regulation Task Force. “Many small farmers are worried about losing their land because it is considered to be in a forest area, even though they have been cultivating the land for generations,” said Sabarudin on Wednesday (10/15).
