Peru: Small increase in fresh mango shipments, but with a lower price

From January to July, fresh mango exports have totaled 174,840 tons for US$203 million. Compared to the same period last year, this was 7% higher in volume and 2% higher in value. The difference was explained by the lower average price, which went from US$1.21 in 2022 to US$1.16 per kilogram this year, thus representing a 4% drop. In these first seven months of the year, Peruvian mangoes have reached more than 35 destinations, three of which accounted for 70% of all shipments. These were the Netherlands, with 33% participation; followed by the United States, with 29%; and Spain, with 8%. With respect to the Dutch, they managed to acquire 66,800 tons for US$ 68 million, which was 5% lower in volume and 8% lower in value compared to last year. This was accompanied by a drop in the price in this market, which was 3%, reaching a price of US$ 1.01 per kilogram for Peruvian mangoes.
