Snail Breeders' Union created in Russia

A new food association, the Union of Snail Breeders, has been organized and officially registered in Russia. The organization was founded by a farmer from Kolomna, Sergei Balayev, Veterinary Science and Life reports. Entrepreneurs who breed gastropods, as well as restaurateurs, manufacturers of agricultural equipment, and other individuals who want to start their own business in this industry can become members of the association. The new union will provide information and technological support to domestic snail farming. In total, according to Balayev, about 200 farms are currently engaged in snail farming in the country. Balayev first publicly voiced the topic of snail meat production in Russia at the end of 2019 during a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and the public.
