Snail production in Russia will reach 1000 tons in 2025

There are currently about 200 snail farms in Russia, but there is still a large shortage of quality products on the domestic market. The total volume of the world snail market in 2022 was about 20.8 thousand tons. According to Daniil Kozlov, head of the external environment monitoring department at the Agroanalytics Center, 85% of this volume is produced in Morocco, 6% in Ukraine and 5% in Tunisia. The import of finished or canned snails to Russia is mainly provided by France, Belarus supplies fresh or frozen products. There is currently no export of broodstock from foreign countries. They are grown on breeding farms in Russia and purchased from domestic farmers, says Lev Ladik, founder of the first inclusive snail biofarms in Russia, SnailBio.
