The pandemic has posed unique challenges for Brazilian farmers, including a significant drop in consumption and questions about what to do with unwanted produce. With records in agribusiness and increasing hunger, farmers are faced with the difficult decision between destroying crops or donating them. These donations, while providing necessary food to communities, can be costly for producers due to harvesting, packaging, and logistics expenses. Despite potential financial losses, initiatives like "Do an Incredible Good" and the "productive quarantine" efforts of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) have made a significant impact, donating over 5,000 tons of food and 1 million lunchboxes to needy communities in Brazil. These initiatives aim to reduce hunger and support rural employment by providing a choice of food to those receiving donations.
