Despite challenges such as extreme weather events and rising costs, South Africa's citrus production is expected to increase in the 2022/23 season, except for grapefruit. Orange production is projected to reach 1.63 million tons, while grapefruit production is expected to increase slightly. Mandarins/tangerines and lemon/lime production is also expected to rise due to favorable weather conditions and increased acreage. Export markets for South African citrus include China, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
