[Livestock and Fisheries News=Reporter Nara Park] The Chungnam Provincial Assembly has secured the legal foundation to foster the goat industry as a new growth engine in livestock farming. The "Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of the Goat Industry," primarily proposed by Representative Bokman Kim (People Power Party, Geumsan 2), passed the review of the Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Marine Committee on the 3rd, laying the groundwork for the systematization of the industry. Despite Chungnam Province having one of the largest goat farming scales in the country, development has been limited due to a lack of income base, distribution network, processing infrastructure, and insufficient hygiene and breed management. Particularly, with the trend of ending dog meat consumption, goats are being noticed as an alternative livestock, increasing the need for systematic support. The ordinance includes △ establishing a five-year promotion plan.
