A group of South Korean millers has purchased 50,000 tons of bread wheat of U.S. origin at an international tender, international news agencies reported. The winner of the tender is Columbia Grain International. It will supply 24,640 tons of soft white wheat with protein between 9.5% and 11% for $224.96 per ton FOB, 850 tons of soft white wheat with protein up to 9% for $235.99 per ton FOB, 12,200 tons of hard red wheat with protein up to 11.5% for $236.18 per ton FOB, and 12,310 tons of northern dark spring wheat with at least 14.5% protein for $259.08 per ton FOB. For comparison – at the previous tender for the import of bread wheat to South Korea held a week ago, 30,000 tons of U.S. origin were purchased at prices between $232.67 and $258.67 per ton FOB, with only the grain with 9.5-11% protein being cheaper than the current tender, and at tenders in Algeria and Jordan this week, the supply of at least 560,000 tons was agreed at prices between $259 and $266 per ton C&F.
