The Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey has seen significant success in its exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and related products, with exports reaching $1.9 billion in the first seven months. Sunflower oil exports alone brought in $294 million, making up 55.7% of Turkey's total sunflower oil exports. The region also exported over 2.5 million tons of grain and significant amounts of pasta. However, the region's Sunflower Pulps, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association is expressing concerns about a new tariff quota for sunflower seed imports, fearing it could lead to unfair competition and disrupt free market pricing. The association also emphasized the economic importance of sunflower oil manufacturing in the region, especially in Gaziantep, where it generates nearly $500 million in annual exports and provides many employment opportunities.
