In the first half of the 2023/24 campaign, the European Union imported 17.08 million tonnes of cereals, a 25% drop from the previous campaign, with Spain importing 45.7% of the total. Ukraine was the main supplier of cereals to the EU market, with its share growing to 53.23% due to reduced quotas of other countries. Despite similar community production, the EU is expected to import 30.5 million tons of cereals from third countries in the entire 2023/24 campaign, a significant decrease from the previous campaign.
