The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, Luis Planas, confirmed this Tuesday in the Senate that, during the year 2024, the body of inspectors for plant health and food products at the border conducted 314,000 checks on plant products, of which 2,000 were rejected. In addition to these, there were another 69,000 checks on animal products, of which 700 batches were rejected during the past fiscal year. The minister provided this information in response to a question posed by the Popular Senator Jorge Domingo Martínez, in the plenary session of the Upper House, regarding whether there is sufficient personnel to carry out the official checks on plant health at the border and on food products entering from third countries.
