The Council of Ministers, under the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, has approved the amendment to Royal Decree 1051/2022, of December 27, which establishes regulations for sustainable nutrition in agricultural soils. The amendments respond to the Government's commitment to advance the rational fertilization of crops, with the strategic objective of increasing or maintaining the productivity of agricultural soils, while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact of the application of fertilizers and other sources of nutrients or organic matter. Thus, the new dates establish the requirement for a fertilization plan by January 1, 2026, for irrigated agricultural holdings where the crop is sown or planted between March 1 and June 30, and by September 1, 2026, for all others.
