According to the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), throughout 2022 the Philippines has increased the import of meat and meat products by 16% to a total of 1.36 million t. Of this figure, 52% corresponded to pork with 710,300 t, 28% more than in 2021. They were boosted due to the reduction in tariffs. Of the total, 314,770 t corresponded to cuts of meat, both fresh and frozen, and the import of by-products reached 217,550 t. The main suppliers of pork were Spain with 222,080 t, Canada with 127,310 t and Brazil with 79,110 t. In beef, the Philippines imported 158,710 t, 17.3% more than in 2021, and 411,070 t of poultry meat.
