USA: Spanish Ham takes center stage in Miami

ASICI and INTERPORC, the interprofessional organizations of the Spanish pork sector, have joined forces for the second consecutive year to promote knowledge of Spanish ham in Miami in the United States, through the “Slices of Happiness” campaign. In Spain, some 42.9 million hams and shoulders were produced in 2023, of which some 29.5 are from white pigs and just over 14 million are Iberian. Of the total production, approximately 25% are destined for foreign markets. The “Slices of Happiness” campaign, promoted by ASICI and INTERPORC, lands at the Americas Food & Beverage fair in Miami. The United States is the leading non-European importer of Spanish ham worldwide. Spain exported to this country worth more than 34 million euros in 2023, between hams and shoulders, both Iberian and from white-coated pigs.
