The US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) has highlighted Sri Lanka as a major importer of US Soybean meal in South Asia, with a requirement of 210,000-240,000 metric tons annually. The demand for protein-based diets is expected to rise, leading to an increase in imports. US Soy is preferred for its sustainability, essential amino acid profile, and lower fibre content. Adoption of the 'Fed with Sustainable US Soy' label by local producers in Sri Lanka signifies the industry's shift towards sustainability. The USSEC Regional Director for South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, Kevin Roepke, recognized Sri Lanka's poultry and livestock industry for its investments and efforts towards sustainability.
