These days, măng vầu – a type of forest măng characteristic of the midlands and northern mountainous regions – has unexpectedly become a sought-after item. Despite the selling price being double that of the main crop, early season măng vầu still "sells out" thanks to its crisp, sweet, and fragrant flavor. At many local markets in Hanoi and on social media, starting from the beginning of the lunar December, măng vầu has been sold in many places. The price of early season măng vầu ranges from 60,000 – 70,000 VND/kg, significantly higher than that of the main crop măng vầu (around 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg).
