State Support for Cherry Producers Hit by Cold Weather

In Denizli, geographical indication-registered Honaz cherries suffered agricultural frost due to the drop in temperature in March and April. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that it would support 17 types of products damaged by frost events. The inclusion of cherries among the 17 announced products provided some relief to producers. In the agricultural frost event caused by the drop in temperatures during March and April, cherry trees in Denizli's Honaz district suffered significant damage. In the city famous for its cherries and with a geographical indication, the trees ready to bear fruit were exposed to agricultural frost, causing 50% crop damage.
