Initial outbreaks raise alert for rust in the crop

Asian rust reappeared at the beginning of the 2025–26 crop season and reignited concern in soybean-producing areas. Data from the Antiferrugem Consortium pointed to the first outbreaks in the regions of Corbélia and Itapetininga, observed in a period of frequent rains that favors the fungus causing the disease. Experts highlight that the advance of the rust occurs at a time of high demand and limited supply of multisite fungicides, inputs considered essential for efficient control.
