In the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, Malatya's agricultural sector, particularly trout production, has shown signs of recovery with a notable increase in trout and trout fry production, reaching 6,280 tons in just nine months, up from 4,000 tons the previous year. This resilience is largely attributed to the support from the state, including financial aid and efforts to restore damaged facilities. The city, hosting 48 trout production facilities, is aiming to further boost production to 10,000 tons and increase trout fingerling production from 31 million to 53 million. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is actively supporting the sector by providing financial incentives and aiding in facility reconstructions.
