More US lawmakers call for ‘immediate halt’ to Indian shrimp imports

US lawmakers, Garret Graves and Mary Sattler Peltola, have urged President Joe Biden to halt shrimp imports from India, citing severe food and safety concerns, along with labor violations in Indian shrimp processing facilities. This request is in response to findings from three investigative reports by the Associated Press, the Corporate Accountability Lab (CAL), and the Ocean Outlaw Project, which exposed human rights abuses and unsafe working conditions in the shrimp industry of India, the US's largest shrimp supplier.
