(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Young-eun = Ulju County announced that it conducted a field inspection of drone pest control project sites to prevent the spread of pine wood nematode disease on the 17th.
County Mayor Lee Soon-geol visited the forest areas in Seosaeng-myeon where drone pest control work is in progress, inspected the control situation, and encouraged related personnel.
This drone pest control was carried out in line with the activity period of the pine sawyer beetle, the main vector of the pine wood nematode disease.
From the 26th of last month until the end of this month, it is being conducted in the Seosaeng-myeon and Balri area of Onyang-eup, which have experienced significant pine wood nematode disease damage.
Unlike existing aerial pest control, drone pest control can precisely target only pine trees at low altitudes, which increases effectiveness and reduces cost per area, offering significant budget savings.
A Ulju County official stated, "We will do our utmost to prevent the spread of pine wood nematode disease through efficient drone-based pest control."
