[Reporter Lee Jang-hee, Korea Farmers' Newspaper] Gyeonggi Province has successfully conducted research on an extract using 'Jeongeumnamu,' a native blueberry that grows abundantly in the local mountains, for 10 years and even registered a patent. The Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute announced on November 2, 2021, that the 'composition for the prevention, treatment, or improvement of Helicobacter pylori infection' filed as a duty invention by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government was registered as a patent in August, four years after the application was filed. The Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute discovered through cell experiments on Jeongeumnamu berry extract that it has antibacterial properties against Helicobacter pylori bacteria. The research institute further stated that this was confirmed by an accredited testing agency, the Republic of Korea.
