Researchers from the Agricultural Research Center in Saint Catherine, in collaboration with the South Sinai Agriculture Directorate, have successfully produced two varieties of sugar beet seeds. The cold temperatures during winter are crucial for the plant to produce high-quality seeds. The city's climatic conditions and low pest and disease levels are also favorable for sugar beet cultivation. The soil's fertility and moisture retention properties further support seed production. This initiative is part of the National Program for the Production of Vegetable Seeds, aimed at reducing the need to import seeds and providing foreign currency earnings.
