Sudan's Gadarif state has higher agricultural output in summer

On November 6, according to the Sudan News Agency, the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources of Gadarif State stated that the summer grain production was gratifying. Last year, sorghum production was 6.45 million bags and sesame production was 2.28 million kentals. This year, the sorghum planting area is 4.28 million feddans. (approximately 1.8 million hectares), with a total output of 10.7 million bags, a year-on-year increase of 65.9%. The sesame planting area is 880,000 feddans (approximately 370,000 hectares), with a total output of 3.53 million kentals, a year-on-year increase of 54.5%. ​ The ministry also stated that the total area planned for planting in Gedarif Oblast this summer is 7.72 million feddan (approximately 3.24 million hectares), of which 5.7 million feddan will be sorghum, 1.038 million feddan for sesame, 590,000 feddan for millet, and 13.8 million feddan for peanuts.
