Sunflower cultivation is by far the most profitable crop in Ukraine, with a profitability rate of 106% and a net profit of nearly 40,000 UAH per hectare, according to Olga Molokovich from MAS Seeds Ukraine. The order of profitability for crops is sunflower > rapeseed > corn > soybeans and winter wheat. This boost in profitability is primarily due to high grain prices, enhanced logistics, and the operation of ports, which have driven grain prices to similar levels seen in Europe. In 2025, the cultivation area for soybeans is expected to shrink from 2.6 million hectares to 1.8 million hectares, being replaced by sunflower and corn, while the rapeseed cultivation area is projected to expand to 1.2 million hectares.
