As of September 26, 6.66 million tons of sunflower have been harvested from 3.268 million hectares, with a yield of 2.04 tons/ha, which is lower than the previous year. The total harvest is expected to fall short of the USDA forecast of 12.5 million tons and the 15.5 million tons harvested in the 2023/24 marketing year. This shortfall has increased demand from processors, raising sunflower prices to 22,500-23,000 UAH/t. Export demand prices for sunflower and sunflower oil have also risen. Despite falling oil prices and increased tariffs on vegetable oil imports by India, prices for palm oil and soybean oil have fluctuated due to market conditions and weather forecasts in Brazil.
