Papaya prices in Brazil's main producing regions have seen a significant decrease due to high supply and slowed demand. In Espírito Santo's north, the price for Hawaii type 12-18 papaya has dropped by 41% to R$0.98/kg, while in the south of Bahia, Formosa papaya has seen a 36% price drop to R$1.23/kg. This price drop is primarily due to the high supply of both varieties, which has been favored by warm weather accelerating ripening, and a decrease in demand expected to continue as the month ends, potentially leading to crop losses.
