In the "Is it Legal?" panel, FGV professor Leonardo Munhoz highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture in the discussions leading up to COP30, scheduled for November in Belém, Pará. According to Munhoz, sustainable agriculture has been gaining ground in international negotiations since 2017 and has become a central issue on the platform that brings together countries signatories of the UN Framework Convention and the FAO to discuss strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change. "Sustainable agriculture is not the villain. On the contrary, it can be part of the solution to climate change. Brazil has a central role in this context, with regulatory structure and incentives for bioinputs, creating opportunities for a new bioindustry in the field," explained Munhoz.
