Swedish wheat cultivation areas have seen a significant increase, reaching 518,600 hectares, a 12% rise from the previous year, marking the first time the country has cultivated over half a million hectares of wheat. This growth makes up a substantial portion of Sweden's total agricultural land, which spans nearly 3 million hectares, with over 2.5 million hectares being arable. Cereals and fodder crops occupy approximately 1 million hectares, or 71% of the agricultural area. There has been a shift in the dominant grain, with wheat now being more popular than oats and barley in the last decade. While barley and oats planting has decreased, there has been a slight increase in the cultivation of rapeseed and turnip rape, reaching the largest cultivation area since record-keeping began in 1965.
