Tanzania government vows support to sugar industry

Dar es Salaam – The Tanzanian government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the sugar industry, assuring investors of a conducive business environment. Speaking at the launch of a new sugar factory in Kilosa, Morogoro, Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Kitila Mkumbo emphasized the government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for the sector to thrive. “The sugar industry plays a pivotal role in our economy, providing employment opportunities and contributing to rural development,” Minister Mkumbo stated. “We are committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the industry’s continued growth and success.” The newly established factory, with a daily production capacity of 2,000 tons of sugar, is expected to significantly boost the country’s sugar output and reduce dependence on imports.
