The Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA) welcomes the new Technical Regulation for Roasted Coffee, which has been officially standardized through Ordinance 570/2022 by the Agricultural Defense Department. This regulation, which was under public consultation for 115 days, aims to improve the quality and consistency of roasted coffee products in Brazil by setting standards for identity, quality, sampling, presentation, and marking. CNA believes the regulation will add value for producers and consumers by ensuring that roasted coffee meets basic quality expectations. The regulation is also fair to small producers and enforcable by the roasting industry, with a reasonable transition period for adaptation.
