Livestock farming in Brazil has been undergoing structural changes, based on a more entrepreneurial vision of the activity. The sector is strategic for the country and handled 1.86 million tons in 2021, according to the Brazilian Association of Refrigerators (Abrafrigo). Milk production has also been gaining importance and reached 35.3 billion liters in 2021, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). To keep moving forward, the use of technology has been key. “In increasingly demanding markets, especially in terms of the precocity of the animals, the quality of the meat and the observance of socio-environmental requirements, the main pillars of modern livestock are the health of the herd, animal welfare, respect for the environment, genetic improvement, management, nutrition, cost and price management”, says Cyro Penna Junior, coordinator of the Beef Cattle Commission of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock in the State of São Paulo (FAESP). ...
