Grain Producers Australia (GPA) has called on trade minister Dan Tehan to prioritize the interests of Australian grain growers during negotiations with the European Union (EU) and India. GPA chairman Andrew Weidemann expressed support for Tehan's recognition of the industry's market access needs and his proactive, principled, and patient approach. However, GPA has expressed concerns about the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification required for exporting certain grains to the EU. The organization also emphasized the importance of market access for achieving the best value from the predicted 54.8 million tonne crop. GPA also backs Tehan's efforts to secure an FTA with India, aiming for a deal that provides stable access to the Indian market and reduces tariff volatility.
