In December 2022, Moldova exported approximately 8,000 tons of apples, slightly surpassing November's figures but falling short of the expected 10-12,000 tons. The export volume was influenced by the weather conditions of previous years. Nearly two-thirds of the exports were sent to CIS markets. Notably, apple exports by sea in containers reached approximately 1,000 tons, marking a significant increase from the previous year and potentially setting a record for seaborne apple exports. Additionally, the supply of apples to Romania increased to 800 tons in December, nearing the high seasonal sales levels of the previous year. Despite the varied export outcomes, Moldovan traders report no major concerns for the commercial prospects of the 2022 apple harvest.
