The authorities of Russian regions will be able to ban alcoholic beverages

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that gives the authorities of Russian regions the right to prohibit the retail sale of beer and a number of other low-alcohol drinks in “nalivaikas” on the territory of their constituent entities. The corresponding document was published on the official legal information portal. Now regions will be able to introduce additional restrictions on the sale of alcohol, including at catering points in apartment buildings or in areas adjacent to them. Thus, regional authorities may introduce requirements for the retail sale of beer and beer drinks, cider, poire, and mead when providing catering services only in restaurants, bars, cafes and buffets. In addition, regions will be able to set time limits for the retail sale of all alcoholic beverages at public catering outlets, with the exception of restaurants located in apartment buildings and in adjacent areas.
