Breakwater works are in full swing to protect Trabzon's Faroz Harbor from severe waves. The project will use approximately 5,000 concrete blocks, each weighing 21 tons. To prevent Faroz Harbor, one of Trabzon's important fishing ports, from being affected by giant waves, the casting of 21-ton giant concrete blocks on the sea side of the port is ongoing. Approximately two years ago, numerous small fishing boats were damaged and thousands of lira worth of nets were ruined when giant waves overcame the breakwaters and reached the Trabzon Faroz Fishing Port. As a result of the waves reaching the port, 5 fishing boats were submerged in the water. Following these negative events, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure took action, providing an allocation of approximately 400 million TL for Faroz Harbor and initiating work to strengthen the port against giant waves.
