The article highlights the recent changes to the technical regulations in the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) regarding the production of chocolate and cocoa products. These changes, developed by the Belarusian State Food Industry Concern (“Belgospischeprom”), aim to ensure a higher quality and standardization of these products. The new regulations set a minimum of 35% total cocoa solids in chocolate, with 18% being cocoa butter, and prohibit the use of animal fats other than milk fat in their production. The regulations also restrict the use of flavors that imitate chocolate or milk, and mandate a minimum of 25% chocolate in filled chocolate products. The changes are in line with the international standards of the Codex Alimentarius and are expected to enhance the market with quality products. The regulations are set to be enforced in 210 days following their official publication.
