The EU countries that exported the most chocolate in 2023

The countries of the European Union exported a total of 867 thousand tons of chocolate in 2023, which is 2% more than the previous year, according to a report by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). And in the ten years since 2013, exports of sweet food have grown by 35%, i.e. on average by 3.5% per year. The largest exporter of chocolate from the EU countries last year was Germany - with exports of 221 thousand tons, or 26% of the total EU exports. It is followed by the amount of chocolate exported in physical terms: the Netherlands (123 thousand tons of chocolate, 14% of total EU exports), Poland (115 thousand tons of chocolate, 13% of total exports), Belgium (96 thousand tons, 11%) and Italy (92 thousand tons, 11%).
